Was it Harmony or Disharmony of the seas?

I was lucky enough to spend 6 nights on the brand new Harmony of the Seas, 2 nights as a Travel Agent and then 4 nights as a paying passenger. Many of you will have read in the news the problems that people on the 4 nights had encountered, ie with some of the main facilities of the ship being shut, the large amount of workmen still finishing the ship off, the kids areas being shut etc. And yes some of this did have a slight impact on my families trip, but we also had a great time experiencing the ship and what facilties we were able to use, we were able to get a good feel of the ship and on the 4 night sailing there was under 4000 passengers on board so well under capacity but to me this felt the right amount of people on board.

One of the main attractions is the Ultimate Abyss – this is the 10 storey dry side which begins on deck 16 and finishes on deck 6. It is only open in dry weather and is a must to do if only once – it is only approx 14 seconds of your life. When you join the queue you have to grab a mat and then have a demonstration before procedding up the glass floor stairs to the top. Once its your turn you step into the mat, lay back and let go.

Some of the other main facilities of the ship is the shows they have, unfortuantely the Aqua Theatre show was not able to be shown as wasn’t complete (and to be honest wathcing the rehearsals if did look as if the cast had only just boarded and no idea what was going on), we were able to watch the ice-skating show and also Grease (I was able to watch these twice on both sailings) and I would definitely recommend booking your space for this via your cruise planner. We also had entertainment from Bobby Davro, Gareth Oliver and also the Tenors of Rock – all of which were fantastic to watch.

The ship itself had 23 swimming pools, 20 different dining venues, 2 Rock climbing walls and 2 Flowriders, starbucks, 7 different neighbourhood areas such as the Boardwalk and Central Park (I will explain more about these next time), a carousel, a bionic bar, zip wire – the list is just endless of what there is to do on the ship and onc eit is fully completed will be a great choice for all ages as there is something to do for everyone.

And not forgetting the Dreamworks characters on board who all come out at some time during the cruise and do a meet and greet and you are allowed to take your own photos, some of them also do their own dance on the Royal Promenade.

And of course not forgetting the Royal Caribbean Car on the Royal Promenade

This ship is definitely one for better weather, as we did experience a couple of downpours whilst on board and the boardwalk and Central Park areas suddenly became very empty. One of the other downsides I found was unless you went out on to deck 15/16, deck 5 on the jogging track, or had a balcony cabin then you never saw the sea – I find watching the sea quite calming and relaxing so was surpised when sitting in some of the bars/restaurants there was no windows to look out of.

Overall this ship will be great and it was just a shame the 4 night sailing the ship wasn’t quite ready for passengers. I do agree with some of the media footage that the waterslides were closed for the 6 nights I was on board, that there was many workmen throughout the ship and they did drill and hammer around the clock to try to gt the ship finished, on formal night for about an hour the whole ship had no water in the showers, and of course it was disappointing to not to get to see the Aquatheatre show. However I was pleased I got to see the ship and experience the Oasis Class ships with Royal Caribbean.
