For those of you who didn’t know Jane Macdonald has returned back to our screens in a new series of 4 episodes, which is being shown on Channel 5 on Friday nights at 9pm. The first one started last week so if you did miss it you will be able to still get it on catch up.
This series will see Jane sail around the Baltic on the Viking Sky, sail down the River Rhone on the Avalon Poetry 2, experience Celestryal Cruises around Cuba, and around the Western Med on the brand new MSC Meraviglia (this is the one I want to see the most and am hoping she shows more of this ship than when she sailed on the MSC Divina last series)
This week she was around the baltic and when I did this itinerary with P&O a couple of years ago I absolutely loved it and would defiinietly go back again. What the show did not demonstrate or explain – is that unlike Jane who will have her own visa paid for by the tv company so she was able to get off and explore on her own in St Petersburg – it is not an easy or cheap process to get your own visa and also you can not get off the ship and wander round on your own without one. If you do one of the cruise lines own excursions or one through our recommended company www.cruisingexcursions.com (which i did and was one of the best excursions i have done) then you will be covered under the ships/company visa and so then able to go ashore but have to remain on the excursion.
I thoughts Jane’s cabin looked amazing (and so it should as she was in the owners suite) and was good to see briefly when she went to a cabin party what a standard cabin that majority of people would travel in and be able to afford looked like.
The sail into Stockholm is spectacular and when i was on my cruise we were out on the deck watching us navigate through the archipelago and whilst in Stockholm we also visited the ABBA Museum (but decided not to sing like Jane’s cheesy rendition at the end)
If the programme has got your thinking about doing a baltic cruise then you can read my other blogs about my trip here: http://www.cruise.co.uk/cruise-blogs/kerryscruiseguide/my-baltic-port-guide-part-1/?affref=kerryj, http://www.cruise.co.uk/cruise-blogs/kerryscruiseguide/my-baltic-port-guide-part-2/?affref=kerryj , http://www.cruise.co.uk/cruise-blogs/kerryscruiseguide/my-baltic-port-guide-part-3/?affref=kerryj, http://www.cruise.co.uk/cruise-blogs/kerryscruiseguide/my-whirlwind-two-day-tour-of-st-petersburg/?affref=kerryj
Have a great couple of weeks – don’t forget P&O and Cunard Summer 2019 are now open for pre-regristrations so please do not hesitate to contact me for prices and to secure you cabin.
