Indy to get a makeover

So in the last week some exciting news for Independence of the Seas fans has emerged – and it appears Royal Caribbean might be building bigger ships with new innovations on them, but they are also committed to re-innovating their older ships such as the Independence of the Seas.

When the ship goes into dry dock in April 2018 there will be a number of new features added such as a trampoline park – the first one at sea (these do seem to be now becoming popular in the UK – my home town has recently opened 2 of them), Laser tag, The Escape room which can be currently found on Anthem of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas and Brilliance of the Seas. There will also be the additions of water slides (I wonder if these will be the perfect storm slides they have on Harmony of the Seas).I wonder what they will be having to get rid of to make room for these new additions.

Independence of the Seas will be 10 years old next year, so its good they are keeping her up to date with the rest of the fleet and thinking about the UK cruisers,  as her home port in the summer months is Southampton and often you have to go to the Caribbean for their newer/enhanced ships.

More details will be released over the next few months but what are your thoughts on these new additions – are they enhancements and still keeping Royal Caribbean as leaders in the innovations? Or do you think this is now getting over the top and perhaps losing the traditional feel of what cruising is about?
