A marriage proposal

So this weeks blog was supposed to tell you about my recent cruise on board Oriana, which I have just returned from. However that will be the next one I write as I have some exciting news to share with you which happened on my recent trip.

I GOT ENGAGED !!! Having been with my partner Nick now for over 6 years he finally popped the question whilst we were in Amsterdam on Monday in Dam Square. Apparently it should have been the day before under the Christmas lights and by the Christmas tree in Dam Square, but unfortunately storm Desmond had put those plans on hold, as instead of docking at 3pm on the 06th December, we didn’t dock and get clearance until 12:15am on the 07th December. So Nick had to quickly re-plan his proposal and it was still in Dam square by the Christmas Tree which they had only just started to put up at 12pm.

Unbeknown to me, he had asked my father if he could marry me a couple of weeks in advance of the cruise, and until the day of embarkation my father thought it would be at Christmas he would ask me, so when Nick asked him to look after the ring h then realised it would be whilst we were away.

Nick did get down on one knee to ask me (and ended up with a damp knee as he had worn his beige jeans), I was overwhelmed and totally surprised and took me a while before I realise I hadn’t answered the question and said yes.

We had champagne on board to celebrate and will be having a family drinks event over the next couple of weeks.

Now we just need to save up for a wedding and start planning our big day – it might even be on a cruise (but definitely will not be on the Oriana) I will let you now about the rest of my trip next time
