Ships I’m not going on….Arcadia cancelled

This weekend I was due to go on the annual Cruise.co.uk Christmas Conference which was being held on board P&O’s Arcadia, however P&O have today cancelled this sailing. Arcadia is currently in dry dock being refitted and these enhancements have not been completed in time and therefore they have cancelled the 2 night mini cruise.

I am deeply disappointed and very angry at P&O. I was looking forward to spending time on board with my colleagues, being updated on the business, enjoying Christmas and celebrating my birthday which fell on this cruise.
P&O are a major player in the cruise industry and they have a fleet of 7 ships. Their ships take a lot of punishment and P&O are good in that they regularly refurbish their ships. Each ship enters dry dock  every 4 years on average. With over 175 years of cruising experience you would think that they can calculate how long it is going to take to refurbish a ship and plan their timetables around this.

Here at Cruise.co.uk we are now frantically trying to find a venue to hold our Christmas party, however at this short notice it will not be easy. We haven’t heard anything official as yet regarding P&O’s compensation package, I imagine we will be offered a 2 night cruise in the spring, but somehow celebrating Christmas and birthdays in May, just won’t be the same.
