You don’t have to be crazy to work here….

When I became a Cruise Consultant at Cruise.co.uk I knew that I would have a great job. My customers are happy people and  I get to talk about holidays and fantastic destinations all day long. I also knew was that I would get some opportunities to travel and I have been lucky to sail on many cruise ships and visit some great destinations.

However, I didn’t know that I would end up looking like this. This was the state of me on a work’s day out this weekend.

The Wolf Run is a 10 kilometre  ‘wild running’ event that takes place in Warwickshire and the bosses at Cruise.co paid for anyone that wanted to enter to do it, along with a summer’s worth of personal training to get us ready for it. A team of 18 of us turned up for the event.

The running is all off road through woods and farm land and is interspersed with a number of hardcore obstacles along the way. It started gently with the tyres but soon got messy with a 20m waist deep wade through the Black Lake. From here we had to bear crawl under cargo nets, drag ourselves through tunnels, climb A frames with rigging, negotiate hale bales, and slide down water slides.

As well as this there was also the ‘Alpha Lake’ – a jump into freezing water and a swim across the lake in full running gear. This is the first time I’ve been in water fully clothed since I was 13 and doing my life saving badges in the local heated swimming pool and it was certainly not what I’m used to. The lake was at the 7km point and so we still had 3km of running to do. Fortunately it was a hot day.

As you can see from the photo’s it was a great day. We all completed the course together and had a lot of laughs as we helped each other over walls and through ditches. It wasn’t your normal office party but I work with a great team and  motivated each other along the way.   All in all it was a fantastic day I  can’t wait to see what  crazy challenge the manager’s come up with for next.
