The dreaded Cruise Personaliser – am I going to Paris or not?

I don’t know if I have mentioned it before but I have a milestone birthday this year (I am trying not to think about it!), anyway, myself and four friends, two of whom are also 50 this year, have booked a four night mini cruise as part of our celebrations. We are setting sail on the 4th May on Adventure of the Seas and we will be visiting Bruges and Le Havre (Paris)
Last night we all got together to book parking at the port, complete our personaliser’s, decide whether or not to book the drinks package – all these little things that need doing.
All was going well – I am a cruise consultant after all so I should know what I am doing! Ok, so one friend had forgotten her passport, one had forgotten to bring her travel insurance details, another had not arranged travel insurance yet. Minor details!

We then chose an excursion in Bruges and another in Paris and decided to book them. We booked the one for Bruges without a hitch but when it came to booking the Paris excursion the personaliser informed me we could not book it as one of us had already booked another trip – not so? Anyway, I sorted this and put the payment through but when I looked at the summary the excursion was not booked, so I tried again, and again, without success. the upshot of this, as I entered my card details three times is that I have either booked and paid for the excursion three times or not at all.
All in all it was extremely frustrating and I can now totally understand my clients frustration when they phone me with similar problems. It was not a great way to spend a Saturday evening and I now have to call Royal Caribbean tomorrow morning to try to resolve this.
I have to say that on the whole I have never had a problem before but last night I was one very frustrated client!
