Oceania are about to undertake the complete enhancement of their four Regatta Class ships. This was recently announced by Bernie Carter, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, of Oceania Cruises, this is a massive undertaking and Bernie himself is obviously very excited about it!
“I have had the pleasure of working with Oceania Cruises for over thirteen years. Since then, I have seen our brand and product being transformed and enhanced on a regular basis. However, the next chapter of the Oceania Cruises story exceeds all previous enhancements. Our OceaniaNEXT initiative, a sweeping array of dramatic enhancements for our Regatta class ships, will elevate every facet of our guests’ experience. It is the most extensive and comprehensive product and guest service programme that we have ever undertaken. You are invited to read all about it below, but meanwhile let me assure you – I cannot wait for our ‘better than new’ ships to launch!”
So, Bernie is excited but what will Oceania’s very loyal clients think of the planned transformation of their beloved ships? Time will tell! In the meantime, just what do Oceania have planned for these ships? Well take a look at some facts and figures, they truely stack up!
66 Days
$100 Million Dollars
1,368 New Suites and Staterooms
1,400 New Marble Bathrooms
8,000 New Light Fixtures
12,000 New Sofas and Chairs
1,000+ Artisans and Craftsmen
No mention of carpets there! Did I ever mention that I do love a cruise ship carpet?!
To be fair, having spent time on some of these ships, whilst they are lovely and the on board experience is superb, they are due a jolly good upgrading and given the investment Oceania are making in this programme, I think the ships will be in fabulous shape once completed.
One thing that won’t be changing is the food on board. Oceania are renowned for the finest cuisine at sea and guests can be reassured that despite many other changes on board, the fine cuisine will remain just as it is. Who could ever forget the Miso-glazed Sea Bass on Insignia?!!
I will bring you updates as we get them and I for one am very much looking forward to seeing these beautifully enhanced ships.
For now, happy cruising folks!
