Halloween Hapag Lloyd style – spooooooooky!!

Hapag Lloyd are going to keep their passengers on Europa 2 totally in the dark this autumn as they sail around the Med. Quite literally!
Their production of Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost will take place in total darkness and to make sure there is no peeking, show goers will be given eye masks which will intensify their other senses. Hapag Lloyd say that this is going to make for an extraordinary experience. I think it will make for a really spooky experience that is not for the faint-hearted. I’m wondering if they recommend that people of a nervous disposition or with a heart condition should not attend!

All in all though, I have to give them 10/10 for this really unique way of marking Halloween. Have any of the other cruise lines come up with anything special for the spooky season I wonder? Maybe you can let me know if you are on a ship at that time.
The show will be performed by the Berlin art production company Phase 7, and is just one of three avant-garde shows being performed by the group, twice weekly, over a three month period. Their shows combine lighting effects, video, and software art with music, dance and drama. I think this makes an excellent and refreshing change from the cirque dreams type of show that is becoming the norm of cruise ships in order to overcome the language barriers.
Their other shows include Symphony for a ship which tells the story of the creation of Europa 2, and De-Light – the appearance and disappearance of Light, which focuses on the effect of light on the human form and the interaction between light and darkness.
A thoroughly modern and fresh approach to cruise ship entertainment, and all performed in a wonderful setting. I loved the theatre on Europa 2. It is stunning in its design, and as the ship only carries 516 passengers it is able to be small enough to feel intimate.
I only wish I could go back on her this autumn and experience this new entertainment!
