What a week!

I read somewhere last week that in the next 8 years there will be an additional 250,000 cruise berths added to the global fleet with this number set to rise as more cruise lines order new ships as they look to increase their capacity.  This is a phenomenal number, (over new cruise ships are on order), and shows the cruise lines commitment to providing you with even more choice and better ships.

I will say though, after this week, I do wish the cruise lines would hurry up and build these ships already because oh my do we need them.

I blogged last time about the lack of availability for people wanting to get away over this summer as there is simply nothing left, and I predicted that there would still be large numbers of people wanting to get away, but many will be disappointed.  Well those people have been getting in touch thick and fast this last week, all in the hope of bagging a last-minute bargain, and I must say, many of them have been disappointed with the lack of choice that we have for them, or when we find a deal, they go away and think about it, and come back and its gone.

You must be quick as if you don’t want the deal, someone else will.

The current demand is far far outstripping capacity as more and more people want to cruise.  This is brilliant news of course, but it does mean to grab the cruise you want, it’s time to start booking earlier and earlier.   Therefore, we need these ships now, give me 250,000 extra berths and to the cruise industry I think I could single handily fill them all for you in one swoop.

I myself have had to look much further ahead than I normally would as I have just booked a cruise for next October on Sapphire Princess.  I wouldn’t mind but I haven’t even been on this year’s holiday yet!
