Sorry, Not Sorry

If you had of asked me a few years ago would I ever cruise with Thomson Cruises, without even thinking about the question or answer, it would have been a down right NO. Never in a million years.  Even though my mum and dad cruise with Thomson and only Thomson and absolutely love them.  I did appreciate them for what they are, which is a great cruise line with great service and fantastic entertainment, but for me, they weren’t the cruise line I wanted or would seek out.  My perception was, the ships where much older and smaller than the those I enjoy sailing on, and from all accounts from customers I have spoken with over the years, they were in need a refit and that has never come.  In all honesty, they have been the punch line in a lot of the cruise industry jokes for many years.

I don’t know what it is, but as of late I have been looking more and more at Thomson Cruises and been thinking that I want to give them a go myself for my own holiday.  I have been looking at their ‘newer’ ships of late and have been extremely impressed with what they have been coming out with since they launched the Thomson Dream in 2015, and following from that the TUI Discovery and TUI Discovery II, plus coming in 2018 and 2019 are the TUI Explorer and TUI Explorer 2 (good old Wikipedia)

I think since they have been purchasing old Royal Caribbean ships and renovating them into their own style they have really upped their game.  They seem to have absorbed some of the spirit of Royal Caribbean and modernised their fleet.  With more space on larger ships, they seem to have been given more room to flourish, and have retained more bars, more restaurants and entertainment spaces and it is working well for them.  I think when you add to this, the friendliness of the service they are famed for it has become a good mixture that is attracting cruisers like myself to them.

Plus, I will add that their itineraries are some of the best I see sometimes, as they do tend to go off the beaten track in comparison to some cruise lines with their cut and paste itineraries.  Add this with the addition of a few drinks package on their 2018 cruises, I think I know where I am cruising with in 2018.
