Are P&O about to give you more than you bargained for?

I would like to start by saying that I have had no official information on the below and that the topic of this blog is from my own opinions and from past trends.

You will have seen in the cruise news this week gone that P&O cruises and Cunard Line are in the process of launching their 2019/2020 itinerary programme this month, with details on the Cunard sailings being released Friday just gone (02/03/2018).   This time of year, can be the biggest time for regular P&O and Cunard customers as everyone wants to sample the new itineraries and the new ports being offered and secure their favourite cabin whilst making the most of their 5% past passenger discounts.

What I would like to ask though, and again I stress I have absolutely no information on this, is could we finally see some of the top-secret details of the new P&O ship be announced with their launch?

Details have been very thin on the ground, and P&O have been keeping their cards very close to their chest since they announced their new ship in late 2017.

What we do know is that she will be 180,000 tonnes and accommodate 5,200 guests.  Her name has already been chosen in a competition that ran towards the end of 2017, but this hasn’t been announced yet.  And most importantly, we know she will be sailing in 2020.

Sailing in 2020 should mean that we will get information on her itineraries with the release of the new programme this month which will be rather exciting, and with this, we should also get to know her name as well.

If we judge on what has happened previously, when P&O launched Britannia a few years ago, if I remember rightly, her maiden season went on sale a few days before the main programme launch, and this was a highly successful move for the cruise line, giving focus to their new ship.  Could they follow suit this time and do the same?

A new ship always gains a lot of attention, and I know a lot of regular P&O customers are keen to be in the know with what is to come and experience her maiden season.
