It’s A License To Print Money

It’s a licence to print money.

Talk about a rip off. The other week I was travelling with my family through Manchester airport. Now, I am sure that  you and  yours are the same as us,  going on holiday is still an exciting adventure and  something we all look forward to.

Yes, checking in, security and all that is stressful for all of us but once through to the departure lounge we should be able to kick back and relax and start our holiday, but no, first you have to navigate through the duty free shop, these paths have been carefully designed to ensure that you are forced to follow the path that takes you through all the exclusive and luxury brands on sale – what are they thinking of? Most of us I am sure would prefer to find a seat, get settled and then shop – I for one get so frustrated when having to walk through this maze – don’t you?

Then, after having completed this assault course, your thoughts normally turn to food and drink – you may not of had a chance to get breakfast or lunch before you left home – but let’s face it, I am sure that you could dine for not much more at The Ritz.

How much do you think 2 double gin and tonics, a sausage sandwich and a small English breakfast costs at Manchester airport? Well you will only get £2 change for £40!!

I know that an airport is a business and they are there to make money, but £38 – really? These days as you can not take liquids through to air side you have no choice but to pay the extortinate amounts they ask.

So come on you airport chief exec’s – let’s stop ripping the general public off. Make the prices reasonable – you have the monopoly anyway – we can’t just walk out and go to Tesco now can we?
