With the delights that the British weather holds around this time of year its no wonder that people often try to escape to warmer climates on board a cruise ship.
One thing you can never predict is the weather especially when sailing from the UK ports during the earlier months of the year or during the rainy seasons in the Caribbean – June to September, A surprise downpour sometimes can’t be avoided but here are a few ideas next time to stop it raining on your parade
Explore the ship – with the sheer size of a lot of cruise ships nowadays it can be quite difficult to actually get around and explore what she has to offer – Explore the Dining/Night club venues in the day time is a great way to decide where you are going to try out during your cruise. Some ships offer a Galley tour Free of charge on sea days allowing you to see what goes on behind the seas in the kitchen!
Head to the gym – Cruise lines no boast some of the most advanced Gyms if you are looking for a way to burn off that extra slice of cake you had at dinner the night before
Kids Clubs – Not just for rainy days but a perfect way to keep the kids amused in poor weather!
Catch up on some reading – Whilst on holiday there is nothing I love more than catching up on a good book.. head to the on board library if you are sailing aboard Cunards QM2 – They have the largest library at sea with over 10000 Volumes stacked on shelves! On board Azamara cruises you can make and send postcards from the digital tabletops inside the Library on board – So put down your E-Reader and head for a traditional Page turner!
Check out the Daily Schedule – Delivered to your cabin daily is a Schedule of all the fun packed things you can do if the weather takes a turn – Why not head to a cooking demonstration, test your knowledge with a trivia quiz or even have a go at Karaoke.. why not your on holiday!
Relax at the on-board Spa – The perfect way to Chill out, Indulge yourself in a pampering session at the on board spa!
Catch a blockbuster or Matinee show – A lot of the larger cruise ships now have Movie Theatres on board, Grab some popcorn and watch some of the latest new releases.
Head out on a shore excursion – Brave the weather and experience the ports in full.. Don a Rain poncho and head out on an excursion to a place of interest
Take a dip In the pool or zoom down the waterslides – If the weather is warm but raining head to the pool… your going to get wet anyway and if you’ve been telling yourself you will sample the on board waterpark – take advantage of shorter Queues!
Been on board when the weather hasn’t been great? I would love to hear your best ways to spend a rainy day on board.
