As you may have already read on one of my previous blogs, I recently went to Cagliari (Sardinia) in Italy. As we were only there for a couple of days, we wanted to take in as many of the sites as possible and too get a real feel for living the life in Italy. Now what I am about to say make SHOCK you but…. I have never been a pizza lover and normally would never choose this option on the menu, however I thought whilst in Italy I should at least try one of there pizza’s (I mean this is what they are famous for right?)
We been staying in a hotel very central in Cagliari called “The Regina Margarita) whilst there, we had been speaking with the Hotel manager who had recommended a Michelin star restaurant to dine in but we thought why not try one of the many other restaurants a little less pricey and a little more us. You can imagine the setting in Italy was absolutely beautiful, little tables outside restaurants on cobble streets, Italian music playing, wine, pizza and pasta being served…. wow I was sold!
I literally felt Spoilt for choice as we could have dined anyway! Such is the luxury attention to detail in Italian cooking.
We decided to dine in a beautiful restaurant called “VIDA Restaurant”, I must say what took my attention here was the incredible food that we had seen being served as well as a group of people dancing in the street to American Jazz music which for me, was so beautiful to watch, people smiling, laughing and just enjoying the Italian lifestyle! I would say that the Food here was very reasonably priced. I ordered my 1st Pizza here and as we already seen, the Pizza’s here were very large, so we decided to share one and ordered a beautiful authentic lasagna al forno (slow cooked in the oven). Of course you can not go to Italy without having a cheeky glass of Italian wine.
Both dishes were fantastic and I especially liked the idea that the restaurant has locally sourced produce and they tell you a little history in the art and passion for pizza making.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re a pizza lover and for us we were spoilt. I honestly enjoyed my pizza so much and I never thought I would ever say it but “I Am Truly A Pizza Lover Now!”
In true tourist style camera in hand using only our nose to guide us we set off in a square mile behind the hotel and immediately found scores of people care free and curb side dining tapas and alfresco mostly all with local wines. This is the Italy you see on the TV with chefs preparing local menus with recipes passed down through the generations with cooking in the villages through the ages. We were swayed by the mixtures of look and feel as well as smell of food and lighting which any foody knows has to be just right.
In summery I think we choose a great restaurant the immersed us in all things Sardinian, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
What a wonderful way to spend an evening.
