As you may already know from one of my previous blogs (Click HERE to read), myself and my husband would be doing a 10k walk in aid of Kidney research UK on Sunday 2nd July 2017.
The walk itself was being completed in honor of one of our family member who sadly passed away last year and we all wanted to help raise money and awareness for Kidney Research UK which is an incredible charity. Now, although I used to lived in East London as a kid, I must say I never quite got to see all of London’s iconic sights, so for me I was really excited that I would get to explore these as well as help to raise money for this charity.
When we arrived, we was overwhelmed by just how many people had signed up to take part for this amazing charity. There were people of all ages taking part, children, adults, dogs walking with their owners, it really was just a very emotional but truly wonderful day. The walk began at 11:30am and we set off together with the rest of our family.
Whilst walking, with the other 1,000 participants, I remember I kept on reading peoples messages on the back of their Kidney research T-Shirts to their loved ones (friends & family) and if I am being honest, it made me so emotional. I was also so blown away by other spectators at their kind generosity, as I saw one gentleman come up to one of our family member and say “ I just read your message and would like to donate some money towards your walk” . Honestly such a wonderful thing to do (Thank you so much)
After 2hrs & 45 minutes we completed the walk and was greeted with a beautiful medal, something I will keep forever!
When we checked to see how much money we had raised for Kidney Research we was blown away at everyone’s generosity that was given to help a charity so close to our hearts. In doing so between the whole family we raised almost £900 (just incredible!)
I can honestly say I feel truly blessed to have such kind-hearted people that surround me and I will never forget the this forever.
In the evening we had a large family gathering to help celebrate such a, loving, caring person and celebrate in honor of them. Just a wonderful evening to top of what was a very important, but such a beautiful day.
Thank you all so much xx
