QM2 Transatlantic – Here I come

So today is my last day in the office for a few weeks, originally, I was only meant to be off for a week. Off to visit my best friends new grandson. However, yesterday a last minute opportunity arose that means I shall be away from the office for a little bit longer.

On the 04th August I shall be boarding the iconic Queen Mary 2 and sailing from Southampton to New York.

I am so excited as although I have been on Queen Mary 2 before, a couple of years ago I was on board for 3 nights just before Christmas.

I haven’t seen her since she was refitted and this will be my first transatlantic trip on a ship. This is what she was built for a traditional ocean liner to cross the Atlantic. I am excited to actually get to use the facilities on board and get to really know the ship.

The ship is also stopping at Halifax, Nova Scotia. so at least the sailing is broken slightly towards the end of the trip rather than 7 solid days at sea. On arrival into New York, I shall be flying straight back to London, so unfortunately no shopping in Manhattan for me. But I do want to be awake when we cruise into New York and dock at Red Hook Brooklyn. I will do my best to get lots of photos of that famous skyline.

My last visit to New York was pre 9/11 with my mum. I have a taste to go back, but it will have to wait for another time to stay longer. Who knows I might get hooked on the transatlantic crossings.
