P&O made the announcement today that in 2019 the Aurora will have a refit and become an Adult Only ship to join Arcadia and Oriana for the No Kids Allowed sailings.
The decision has come after earlier last year P&O sold the ever popular Adonia to Azamara Cruises and also announced that they will be introducing two brand new mega family ships for 2020 and 2020.
P&O Aurora has been a long time favourite with P&O regulars, she is one of their medium sized ships in a fleet of 7 (once Adonia leaves this winter). Aurora joined the fleet in 2000 so it seems only fitting for her to become an adult only ship at 18! Weighing in at just over 76,000 tons, she offers sailings to some destinations that her big sisters just cannot reach. With a guest capacity of 1874, she is a similar size to the ever popular Oriana.
Unfortunate for P&O, their decision is not going to be too popular for those families that have already booked for Summer 2019 on Aurora. Guests will be offered the choice to change to one of the family friendly ships – Oceana, Ventura, Azura and Britannia, or offered a full refund and a 5% discount for their next cruise booking.

No Kids Allowed: P&O Reveal Yet Another Ship Is Set To Go Adult Only
This is not the first time P&O have made major changes that effect guests already booked. Last year when Adonia rejoined the fleet after a brief stint in the Caribbean as the Fathom, P&O guests was ecstatic to have this small ship back home with P&O, until the decision was made to sell her to Azamara just a short while after. Again disrupting sailings and itineraries already booked. When will P&O learn and make these decisions before they put itineraries on sale?
So do you think P&O have made the right decision?
There are very few affordable adult only ships available in the cruising world and those that are tend to be the 6* ships, who can afford Regent or Silversea every time? So, apart from the small disruption made to families already booked, I think this is a good move from P&O and the fact that they are giving guests more choice of kid free ships.
