My Time on Norwegian Jade!

Hello and welcome to my blog page! Last week, thanks to Norwegian Cruise Lines, I was luckily enough to be on-board Norwegian Jade.

Norwegian Jade earlier this year came out of dry dock with new eateries, bars, revamped cabins, expanded restaurant space and a whole new modern look and feel about the ship. They have dropped a lot of the very bright colours and carpets and re-modernised looking a lot more modern, stylish and contemporary.

Earlier this year Norwegian took the bold move to go “Premium All Inclusive”. That’s all your food, drinks, entertainment, gratuities and service charges now included. This is great news, and much simpler. Of course there are certain provisions to this, i.e drinks up to $15.00 anything over and you pay the difference. Speciality dining is still charged for, but well worth it.

I did the short sailing from Southampton to Hamburg, it took 2 nights and during this time I tried my best to experience everything on-board. The dining options are endless O’Sheehan’s is a great waiter service eatery to grab a drink or a bite to eat, and now it’s open 24-hours a day!

Pit Stop I enjoyed a lot, it’s a 1950s-style diner where classic car accents and vintage license plates serve as decor. Placed on Deck 13, in a great spot over-looking the pools. Chef’s make the food fresh on order, rater than the buffet style where the food has been sat there a while. Here is my well recommended burger and curly fries!

Additionally, Moderno Churrascaria was relocated and now offers sea views; more seating was added to Cagney’s Steakhouse, I didn’t get to try Cagney’s but customers on-board told me it was amazing! La Cucina, the ship’s Italian restaurant, was spruced up and now features a wine wall. Jasmine Garden and Garden Cafe also offers a great buffet selection.

However, my personal best has to be the Japanese hibachi venue Teppanyaki. We ate there on the second night and costs approximately $35.00 per person. It’s an amazing venue and one to definitely experience. The food is good, but it’s more about the experience. Here are some pictures I took.

Other changes to public spaces include upgrades to the pool areas, the Sugarcane mojito bar and the Spinnaker Lounge, a new TechnoGym equipment in the fitness centre. The addition of Bliss Ultra Lounge, a nightclub with a Miami vibe, offering Karaoke. In the atrium, a new custom-designed chandelier hangs overhead.

All cabins on-board were outfitted with new carpet, furniture, flat-screen TVs and more. Villas, suites and cabins in The Haven, Norwegian’s “ship within a ship” concept, have new finishes on walls and ceilings, as well as new draperies and flooring. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see this to respect the privacy of those who were booked in.

I was based on Deck 10, in a BA grade balcony stateroom. All pretty much as expected with nice decor. It was a 4-berth cabin with a pull out sofa bed, although space would be very tight when this was out. Drinks in your cabin are still charged for, however a bottle of water is included each day.

Overall would I take my family on Norwegian Cruise Lines? Yes, defiantly and many others will too. Especially with the premium all inclusive label now attached, one price and that’s it! Simple, to the point and attractive.
