The former 1,250-passenger ship Grand Holiday, operated by Costa brand Iberocruceros, was built in 1985 and revamped in 2010.
Cruise and Maritime commercial director, Chris Coates, said: “The addition of Magellan to our fleet brings a new dimension in cruising to CMV.
“Since launching Magellan’s programme on November 3rd, we have sold 60% of her capacity which clearly demonstrates the strong demand for our product and smaller ship cruising.”
With so many new large cruise ships being launched this year, Anthem of the Seas, Quantum of the Seas, P&O’s Britannia, then perhaps Cruise and Maritime can exploit all those who wish to travel on the “smaller ships”. CMV are smaller and more intimate cruises and Magellan, sailing out of Tilbury is sure to be a bit hit.
