Quantum & Anthem – make sure you pre-book dining!

Having had the pleasure of sampling some of the fantastic restaurants on the brand new Quantum of the Seas I can confirm that if you are booked to go on either the Quantum or the Anthem you are in for a culinary treat!

But this is my word of warning. Book your restaurants as soon as possible!

There are 5 A la Carte restaurants included in the price of your cruise to choose from for your evening meal. They are American Icon – typical American grill, Coastal Kitchen -lighter & more healthy options (for suite guests only), Chic – modern fusion food, The Grande – traditional gala dinner fare & Silk – Asian cuisine.

These restaurants are only very small compared to traditional restaurants on cruise ships with some only seating around 40 people, so when you think that there will be over 4000 passengers on board at any one time it makes you realise that they will be in big demand.

Of course there are lots of other dining options available to you, but unless you choose from a slice of pizza at Sorrentos Cafe, a hotdog in The Doghouse, room service or the Windjammer buffet restaurant you will incur a supplement. They range from $5 per person for Jonny Rockets diner up to around $90 for the Chefs Table experience.

If you leave booking your dining until the last minute you may find that either you will only get the very early or very late slots in your chosen restaurant or possibly not getting an A la Carte restaurant at all.

Having made my own dining reservations on my Quantum trip I can tell you first hand that the booking process is not particularly quick & easy. It has to be done via your cruise planner which you have access to within 48 hours of the booking being made, using your booking reference. You can look at sample menus to help you decide if you will like the what’s on offer & then you choose a date & time. A good tip (if there is more than one cabin travelling as one party) is to add the other booking reference(s) to the first dining reservation to ensure you are sat together & to save you having to repeat the process.

As I said the food is superb & you get a much more intimate experience than with traditional cruise dining. You can always change your reservations either before you travel or once on board, so don’t get caught out & end up in the (as nice as it is) buffet restaurant every night. Book as soon as you can!
