Norwegian Cruise Line’s Jade returned to the UK earlier this month the first time since 2010 offering sailings from Southampton to Northern europe
Norwegian Jade has undergone a three-week drydock adding two new restaurants and two new bars and lounges, the ship’s design has been updated with a more modern subtle décor in many public spaces, and a complete refurbishment of all staterooms with new flooring, wall coverings, artwork, furniture and soft goods.
Round the Pool deck the Hawaiian feel has been changed and the Kids slide removed (much to my daughters utter disgust)
The bright Coloured carpets have been ripped up and replaced.
‘We’re thrilled to welcome Norwegian Jade back to be home-ported in the UK again,’ said Christian Boell, md Norwegian Cruise Line Europe, Middle East and Africa.
‘The feedback from the market has been tremendous on these new ex-UK sailings, so we are now looking even beyond this season and look forward to 2018, where we will see Norwegian Jade back in Southampton again,’ he added.
From May 14 to June 20 and August 7 to October 16, 2017 as well as from 25 April 25 to June 29 and August 25 – September 29, 2018, UK guests can embark on a series of Western Europe, North Cape, Iceland and Norwegian Fjords sailings from/to Southampton, as well as mini cruises to Hamburg.
With Norwegian Getaway departing from Copenhagen to the Baltics in 2017 and Norwegian Breakaway in 2018, it brings a total of five Norwegian Cruise Line ships sailing in European waters in 2017 and 2018.
Now i do agree the ship looks amazing and much more modern and tasteful and indeed after sailing on jade 4 times most recently last year a refurbishment was needed, however and i know i’m probably going to be on my own on this, but for me the Bright colored garish carpets and decoration stood NCL out from the rest (NCL Epic was also toned doned during its last refurbishment) it was instantly recognisable from other cruise lines and i for one, well my daughter as well will miss the old decoration. Are there any other NCL fans out there prefer the older style compared to the new contemporary vibe?
