Top Tips For Not Missing Out On Anthem

When we wrote our guide to Anthem of the Seas some of you commented that you might need a holiday to get over your holiday on Anthem – as there’s so much to do! Whilst we laughed in the office – we had a feeling you might be right!

With so much to do, how do you make sure you see everything… and that you don’t miss anything?

The www.CRUISE.co.uk team decided we should come up with a guide, so that you have an idea of how you could spend a typical week on Anthem and explore everything! So here is a suggestion of how to spend a week (although Anthem does do longer sailings!) and how to ensure that no two days are the same….

Day One – It’s time to get on-board! Once you’ve got to Southampton, through security and into your room and star-fished on your bed then it will be time to have a buffet lunch in the Windjammer. Grab some of the salad (or a burger or even a slice of pizza – we all know that calories don’t count when you’re on holiday right?!) followed by a dessert or three.

Then it’s time to take a tour around so that you know where everything is! Have you spotted GiGi the giraffe yet (and taken the obligatory selfie with her)? Do you know where your nearest bar is (there’s plenty to choose from)? Now is the time to find out!

GiGi the Giraffe

Follow this by a dip in the pool before your first dinner on-board at The Grande, (if you’ve ever wanted to try snails – now is your chance!) Prepare to be wowed after dinner with a performance of We Will Rock You before bed in the Grande Theatre.

Day Two – As it’s only your first morning on-board, take it easy with a healthy breakfast at Devinly Decadence followed by a morning in the Solarium. The views out of the back of the ship are spectacular and it’s a great place to go for a swim in the four level pool (that’s right, the pools split over four levels!). A spa treatment afterwards would finish the morning off nicely!

You should also make sure you grab a smoothie from the Solarium to have with your lunch, (we recommend the blueberry, mango, kale, spinach, lime and almond smoothie – trust us – it’s delicious!) Then head on over to the SeaPlex and have a go in the bumper cars.

In the evening, dine at the weird and wacky Wonderland Restaurant, where you paint your menu with water to reveal the options, and your waiters are called “storytellers”…  Afterwards, try your luck in the casino – (and pretend to be James Bond!)

Day Three – If you ended up having too many cocktails at the casino last night, (and it’s easily done…) then why not have your breakfast ordered to your room? You can enjoy your food on your balcony (or virtual balcony depending on the kind of cabin you have) and watch the scenery sail past as you enjoy your coffee. Afterwards, continue this indulgence with a dip in the Jacuzzi on the main deck before working yourself up to an Xbox battle in the SeaPlex.

Grab a slice of pizza from Sorrentos for lunch before heading back to the SeaPlex to try out the basketball court (and work off those calories) and try your hand at table tennis. If you’ve a head for heights make sure you have a go at the rock climbing. If not, just watch some others have a go – or visit GiGi – who stands right next to the rock climbing!

Finally, try out Silk for some Asian cuisine (such as Asian duck or spiced peanut cheesecake) before going to the Bionic Bar before bed. What weird cocktail creations can you come up with? Read our article about how to work the RoboBar here.

Day Four – What better way to start your day than getting up early to see the sunrise from the North Star! Afterwards, go down for breakfast and have your eggs made just how you like them from the Windjammer. Next you can enjoy a lesson on the Flowrider and learn to surf like a pro! Don’t worry if you can’t get the hang of it though! It does take a certain knack.

Head for lunch at Café Promenade (with mocha brownies or blueberry pound cake) and then push yourself with a session in the Puzzle Room – and see if you’re smart enough to work your way out! Enjoy a lip-smacking range of rustic Italian food in Jamie’s Italian, followed by a cabaret RoboShow in 270. Get set to be dazzled for a mixture of live dance, music and technology! You can read what our consultants thought of the RoboShow here.

Day Five – Try breakfast in 270 on your fifth day, (we especially recommend their pastries! As we said, the calories don’t count…) before going to the RipCord iFly. Your instructor will walk you through the process to begin with, and then it’s up up and away you go! Make sure you bring your friends with you to get plenty of pictures of you doing this… (have a look at our guide to Anthem here to see our MD Seamus and Sales Consultant Holly have a go!) Then it’s time for lunch at Jonny Rockets, with milkshakes so thick and delicious it’s a work out to suck it up the straw!

If your feeling worn out by this point, why not have a quiet afternoon sunbathing on one of the many hundreds of beds, followed by a quick shopping spree in the Royal Promenade. Enjoy an evening meal at Chic with tasty food like dry aged steak, with only the finest cuts of meat served. Get your skates on for a Roller Disco at the SeaPlex – and if you’re feeling hungry after all that rolling then just grab a dog from the SeaPlex hot dog house!

Day Six – Have breakfast at the Solarium Bistro so that you can spend the morning in the indoor pool. Here you are right next to the bar, so we won’t judge you if you have a tipple! On the other hand, if you feel like you’ve over indulged these last few days, you could head to the gym for a quick workout… But we won’t judge you if the most exercise you have is the walk from the bar to the pool!

Pool seats

Lunch could be a lavish affair at Coastal Kitchen, followed by an afternoon spent learning how to trapeze in SeaPlex. If you’ve ever fancied a career in the circus – now is your time to shine! Finally, have a meal at the exclusive Chefs Table – which is the perfect way to end your last night with fine food and a menu explained personally by your chef. For a last bit of fun, head on down to the music theatre for a disco or go to Michael’s Genuine Pub for some last drinks with all your new friends.

Day Seven – Sadly it’s time to disembark today. Make sure you grab a quick snack from the breakfast buffet on your way out. We won’t blame you for not wanting to go home! But sorry, you really do have to get off!

If you manage all this – we would be impressed! We wouldn’t be surprised if you skipped a few of these day plans and just sunbathed… Because this plan doesn’t even mention the possible excursions!
