Refined, elegant, over-50s-only cruise line, Saga Cruises, has revealed all the juicy details of their range of 2024 ocean cruises. But that’s not all…
Saga Cruises has also added some awesome, new little extras to its UK travel package. Its included chauffeur service will now travel up to 300 miles from the departure dock, up from 250 miles, and passengers who join a Saga Cruise via a domestic flight (to Southampton or London) will also receive their own chauffeur service from home to their local airport, as well being picked up from their flight and driven to their cruise!
These new travel perks will be available in 2024, alongside more than 48 all-inclusive ocean cruises, all available to book now!
Spending 2024 in both the sunny climbs of the Canaries and in the remote landscapes of Greenland and Iceland, Saga Cruises’ Spirit of the Discovery season highlights will be a varied mix of destinations and bucket-list locations.
Departing from Portsmouth on 28 April 2024, Spirit of Discovery will call at several quaint and captivating Spanish and French towns and ports as part of its 12-night, Exploring Spain and Western France itinerary.
This cruise will visit enchanting Bordeaux, home to prestigious vineyards, La Pallice, known for its ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle in La Roche Courbon, Bilbao, where passengers can visit the Guggenheim Museum, and brand-new port call Douarnenez. Churches, chapels, and 18th-century houses adorn this charming port town, which today has its own active sardine fishing and canning industry.
In the summer, Spirit of Discovery will embark on an 18-night Greenland and Iceland Wilderness Explorer cruise, exploring all the magnificent and otherworldly natural sites. This cruise departs from Dover on 10 July 2024 calling at secluded settlements in southern Greenland, Qaqortoq, Narsarsuaq, and Nanortalik – colloquially known as the ‘place of polar bears’!
After this small tour of remote Greenland locations, the Spirit of Discovery will then make its way over to Iceland, sailing through the narrow, glacier-lined Prince Christian Sound, and calling at Akureyri, where the dramatic Godafoss Waterfalls lies, as well as many opportunities to see grand whales in the surrounding fjord.
To wrap up 2024, Spirit of Discovery will spend Christmas in the warm embrace of the Canary Islands. Departing from Portsmouth on 19 December 2024, prospective passengers can expect to sip cocktails and enjoy the island atmosphere in Tenerife, La Palma, Las Palmas, and Lanzarote, as well as mainland ports Cadiz and Lisbon.
Sister ship Spirit of Adventure will contrast with Spirit of Adventure’s 2024 season highlights, by crisscrossing all over the world on a number of extraordinary voyages. The first of these highlighted cruises include a 22-night Athens and the Greek Islands cruise, setting sail from Portsmouth on 17 April 2024.
On this particular itinerary, Saga Cruises will visit the island of Hydra, a delightful destination today packed with glitzy restaurants and bars, but was once home to merchant captains who built a magnificent amphitheatre of stone mansions.
More mystical and historic sites are in store on this cruise itinerary, including more port calls in Katakolon, believed to be the gateway to Ancient Olympia, Athens, home to the Temple of Zeus, Acropolis, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Olympic Stadium, and Argostoli, where a number of tranquil beaches lie.
From ancient myths to mesmerising natural lands, Spirit of Adventure will set off on her next adventure on 30 May 2024, on a Scandinavian Gems cruise leaving from Dover. On this itinerary, guests will be able to explore Klaipeda in Lithuania, Copenhagen in Denmark, Gothenburg in Sweden, and the small fishing port of Gudhjem in Bornholm, Denmark, an all-new port stop for Saga Cruises.
For passengers who can’t make the May departure, fear not! This 12-day voyage will be repeated on the Spirit of Discovery on 4 August 2024.
Like her sister ship Spirit of Discovery, Spirit of Adventure will be spending the festive season in sunnier climbs. She will be departing on a whopping 30-night cruise, starting from Portsmouth, on 6 December to the sun-kissed Caribbean.
This Festive Celebrations voyage will include port calls in Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada, Dominica, Nevis, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and Antigua, where the ship calls on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day will be spent at sea and Spirit of Adventure will anchor off Funchal to see the New Year in.
Aside from these awesome itineraries, both the Spirit of Adventure and the Spirit of Discovery will depart on a range of round-Britain cruises in April, June, and July, plus other cruises to the USA, the Mediterranean, Norway (and the Northern Lights), Africa, the Caribbean and the Canary Islands.
