Saga Cruises customers must be vaccinated to travel!

Following the outbreak of Covid-19, there has been a lot of talk about cruise lines and what they’ll be doing to keep people safe and get their customers back on board to enjoy cruising once again.

You may have seen a lot of the major cruise lines release information regarding some of the measures they’ll be putting in place to make their cruise ships even more hygienic than they ever were before. Most cruise lines will be introducing new protocols including enhanced cleaning procedures, a reduced number of guests at activities and entertainment and adaptation of restaurants and bars so everyone can maintain social distancing in line with government guidelines.

Saga holidays and Cruises have taken it one step further and have made the decision to make Covid vaccinations mandatory on all of their Ocean cruises and holidays for all departure years. The cruise line has said; “We believe this is the right direction to move in for our customer demographic and the majority of those booked will see this as a relief and somewhat good news that their health and safety is our number one priority and that we cannot put our demographic at any kind of risk.”

With this announcement they are hoping that this also means that they can get back to cruising again sooner rather than later. Customers travelling with Saga will need to confirm with agents that they have been fully vaccinated and also provide proof that they have received their full two doses 14 days prior to their cruise when boarding their ship. Guests will also be tested prior to embarkation to ensure they are safe to travel.

Saga will be sending letters and emails directly to customers that are due to travel with them in 2021 to advise them on the new vaccination rule. Any guests looking to make a new booking will be asked whether they are due to have the vaccine to ensure they meet these new rules.

In order to get as many people sailing as soon possible, Saga is pausing all holiday operations until the beggining of May and all guest affected will be notified directly.

So what do you think of this news? Do you think it’s right that Saga is making vaccinations a mandatory requirement to travel on board their ships?
