A cruise holiday is all about those little touches of luxury and indulgence, whether it’s sampling exquisite tastes from around the world in one of the speciality restaurants or immersing yourself in award-winning entertainment, such as a Broadway-style show or hilarious comedy stand-up. And then there’s the place of ultimate relaxation; the spa.
Norwegian Cruise Line has sought to elevate these experiences on their Prima Class, a brand-new class of ships launching this summer, and they have just announced their latest addition, their all-new Mandara Spa.
Below we share the inside story on what you can expect when paying a visit during your cruise.
Discover a place of tranquillity
Found on Norwegian Prima Class vessels, Norwegian Prima and Viva, the Mandara Spa has been masterfully designed by Rockwell Group as the perfect environment for tranquillity and relaxation. It features cruise industry-firsts, a charcoal sauna at sea and a two-storey cascading indoor spa waterfall, as well as a range of thermal experiences and spa treatments, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a stunning marble spiral staircase.
The relaxation area, which features 22 hot stone loungers, and the fitness area are at the front of the ship, meaning you can enjoy exceptional 270-degree views of the ocean as you re-energise and recharge.
The industry’s first charcoal sauna at sea
Norwegian Cruise Line has once again demonstrated its innovation, developing the cruise industry’s first charcoal sauna at sea. You can expect impressive heat as you step inside, with temperatures reaching 86-122 degrees Fahrenheit. Inspired by Japanese and Korean wellness techniques, the sauna’s radiant heat system will boost circulation and help alleviate any aches and pains.
Brand-first thermal experiences
Alongside the charcoal sauna, Norwegian Cruise Line also brings several brand-first thermal experiences to the Mandara Spa. There’s the cooling Ice Room, the Experiential Showers with multiple water jets, the relaxing Floatation Salt Pool and the calming Infrared Sauna. The spa also offers returning favourites, including the Vitality Pool, steam sauna and Finnish sauna. Enjoy one or many, but whichever you choose, you’ll leave feeling thoroughly chilled-out and revitalised.
Signature spa services
A wide range of spa treatments is available across the ship’s twenty treatment rooms. If you’re seeking a massage, then the new Gharieni Welnamis or the Gharieni WellMassage5D beds are a must. With computer-programmed techniques, these beds offer deep relaxation techniques for whole-body wellness.
For a unique treatment, try the Ocean Spa Wave Massage, which uses a water-filled cushion and deep-cleansing therapeutic wrap to alleviate stress. Or perhaps you’ll prefer the tension-relieving, high-tech Zero Gravity Wellness Massage, where a series of sophisticated massage techniques are applied while on a suspended massage table.
There are also aromatherapy treatments, such as the Musclease Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap and Cellutox Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap, and popular and signature treatments on the menu, including acupuncture, manicures, pedicures and facials.
Energise at the gym
You can enjoy complimentary access to the latest fitness equipment, yoga, and spin classes in the Pulse Fitness Centre. After a tough session, head to the gym’s all-new Performance Recovery room. Featuring Hyperice products, you can relieve any muscle pain, tension and soreness via this interactive percussion massage therapy.
