The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, has been officially christened by futbol legend, Lionel Messi!
The whopping 20-deck mega-ship, which can hold up to 7,600 passengers, was officially welcomed into the Royal Caribbean fleet during a traditional maritime naming ceremony in sun-kissed Miami, joined by Messi, legions of Icon of the Seas fans, and Royal Caribbean staff. During the ceremony, Messi, Time 2023 Athlete of the Year bestowed safekeeping onto the ship’s crew and prospective guests.
Icon of the Seas will be welcoming passengers onboard its maiden voyage, sailing out of Miami on 27th January headed for gorgeous islands in the Caribbean. Icon of the Seas, for the foreseeable future, is due to cruise on a number of Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, including calling at Royal Caribbean’s very own private island Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean says, is the ultimate vessel for family holidays. The ship boasts more than 40 restaurants, bars and lounges, six record-breaking water slides, the first suspended infinity pool at sea, seven pools and eight complexes, including a neighbourhood designed for young families and one exclusively for suite guests.
