P&O Cruises and Salcombe Gin have partnered up to become the first-ever Gin distillery at sea. This innovative distillery will be launching on the P&O Cruises Iona in 2020. The distillery will be producing an exclusive line of Gins for the cruise line, reflecting their shared history.
Angus Lugsdin, the co-founder of Salcombe Distilling Co, described the partnership as “kindred spirits, born of the sea with a history of breaking new ground and exploring new horizons.”
Iona’s own gin will be distilled, bottled and labelled on board. The distillery will also be offering two masterclasses; tastings and mixology classes. Offering passengers an opportunity to taste and create with this uniquely produced gin.
Paul Ludlow, the P&O Cruises president, said: “We are incredibly excited by the bespoke gin being created for us, the maiden production run of which will be distilled in the first-ever distillery at sea.”
The Salcombe Gin Distillery will be alongside the 13 entertainment venues and 12 bars onboard Iona. Iona is currently being built in Germany ahead of her highly anticipated maiden voyage in March 2020. She will be the largest ship ever built for the British market and will be packed full of treasures to explore, unseen before by P&O Cruises.
