A new infinity area is being introduced to Disney cruises’ Disney Dream.
Guests on board will want to pinch themselves when hearing the exciting news about the new features available on the ships.
Headlining these enhancements will be two new interactive youth areas, one Star Wars themed and another inspired by Disney Infinity.
Here’s a glimpse of things to come for the Disney guests;
Star Wars Area
Open to ages 3-12 the newly themed area will take children to ‘a galaxy far, far away’ aboard the Millennium Falcon where they will have an out of this world experience in a play area where you can feel the Force, inspired by the spacecraft from the legendary Star Wars saga.
Younglings will join the Rebel Alliance in the epic battle of good versus evil by assisting the navigation of the mighty space vehicle – although we’d argue that this could be just as fun for the not-so-younglings too…
Young Padawans will sit in the cockpit and pilot their aircraft through hyperspace and trigger light speed jumps to different locations around the galaxy. They get the opportunity to watch episodes from the new Disney XD animated series “Star Wars Rebels” on a large screen or they can join the rebellion at gaming stations that will feature the series action packed adventures! They are also able to express their creativity through Star Wars-themed craft games and activities.
The excitement continues on board with a version of the popular Jedi training academy experience that will invite Young Jedi hopefuls to learn Light Sabre moves from non-other than a Jedi Master. They will be tested on their skills and affinity for the Force before a face off against the Darth Vader.
High Tech Disney Infinity space
An interactive high tech space will also be at the Oceaneer club, the Disney Infinity video game offers even more fun for kids! In the Toy Box area kids get to experience a completely different way of playing together – here they can play over virtual experiences and immersive activities. The customized on screen adventures bring life to characters and stories from The Walt Disney Company.
Found only on The Disney Dream – a unique room with the complete set of Disney Infinity characters figures will be on display, encouraging children’s imagination and available for gameplay. Kids will be able to unlock exclusive cruise line content that they can take home with them when playing on Disney Infinity with famous Disney characters like Mulan, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, even Pixar favourites like Nemo, creatures from Monsters Inc. and even Wall-E.
Specific activities like the interactive floor will bring the virtual gameplay experience to life and allow kids to be immersed in the toy box, as if you’ve fallen into a world of your own you will be able to visit the life size Disney Infinity Base where the stage is set up for children to take the place of character figures for a group gaming experience like no other!
Spectacular sweet shops for families
Vanellope’s Sweets & Treat shop is also new to Disney cruises. All cruisers from all ages are welcome in here to play their sweet tooth. Handmade gelato, ice cream, delectable novelty treats and an assortment of candy treats can be brought. Willy Wonker haters- don’t be fooled into thinking you can avoid this sweet shop, the smell of freshly baked waffle cones and candy shall linger from the specialty stores two entrances, so there won’t be any escaping!
We won’t have to explain to the ‘Wreck It Ralph’ fans out there that the shop resembles the whimsical candy land featured in the movie. The décor and features of the shop includes a race track, checkerboard patterned floor, gas pump-style gumball dispenser, Vanellope’s race car and king candy’s throne that all give a firm nod to the hit film.
Magical Makeovers
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique allows passengers ages 3-12 to participate in a makeover where they will be transformed into their favourite Disney Princess or Brave knight; they shall go to the ball as this salon will transform the passengers into royalty with the help of their own trusty fairy godmother!
On pirate night the boutique becomes The Pirates League where swashbuckling pirates of all ages have the opportunity to unleash their inner buccaneer. (Dad, that means you too!)
Chilled retreat for adults
With all the age restrictions and fun games for the kids- what is there to do for the adults?! Exclusively for adults will be a new water feature, Satellite Falls, a circular splash pool with benches and gently falling rain curtain that will provide ultimate relaxation to those busy parents. The upper deck is an adult only area so sunbathing and sun shading will be blissfully enjoyed, without the screams and splashes from the nearby very excited children.
This wave of enhancements to the Disney Dream debuts on the Oct. 26 four-night voyage from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. The Disney Dream will continue to sail three- and four-night cruises from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas throughout 2015 and into 2016.
