Cunard’s main event took place in Liverpool on Monday, with the three vessels gracefully sailing together along the River Mersey before rotating and forming an impressive arrowhead formation.

The spectacle culminated in nine jets from the famous Red Arrows flying overhead, featuring the best pilots from the Royal Air Force’s Aerobatic Team.

As the ships sailed down the river the Red Arrows flew in formation overhead, treating both Liverpool residents and Cunard passengers to a spectacle not likely to be forgotten.

Cunard’s Director, Angus Struthers, took pride in the lines latest milestone; “The arrival of the Queen May 2 this morning, the largest passenger ship ever to sail up the Mersey, signalled the beginning of Cunard’s Salute to Liverpool celebrations in the place where the Cunard story began 175 years ago.”
