Chairman Says P&O Aren’t Worried About Anthem!

The UK is known for having a booming cruise industry and according to Carnival Corporation’s chief executive Arnold Donald, the country has enough room for two brand new cruise ships.

In just over five week’s time on April 20th, Anthem of the Seas – the newest vessel to join Royal Caribbean’s fleet – launches in Southampton, joining sister ship Quantum of the Seas.

Speaking at a press conference in Southampton, ahead of Her Majesty the Queen naming P&O Cruises’ newest ship Britannia today Mr Donald said: “there may be some people who experiment with both , but I don’t see them in competition. Britannia is cruising for UK people, Anthem is not that.”

Britannia and Anthem of the Seas have both been scheduled to sail similar itineraries. Anthem will then take its place at its new homeport in Bayonne, New Jersey, this October.

Passengers can expect a range of entertainment on board both vessels, but with a very different angle.

Those who choose to embark on an Anthem cruise may wish to try their hand at a selection of fun-filled activities, including a roller disco, bumper cars, simulated skydiving and a 360-degree capsule (the North Star) on the top deck of the ship.

In contrast, passengers who set sail with Britannia might choose to join the Supper Club and the Cookery Club, or watch some well-loved sit-coms in the onboard television studio.

Britannia will be the largest ship to join the UK. David Dingle (pictured) – chairman of P&O – said: “It’s the biggest canvas we have ever painted on and we’ve taken all the great things from our other ships and brought them together in one place.

“We’ve also added some great new things, such as the Cookery Club and the Limelight Supper Club.”
